How does the opening sequence draw you in?
The opening sequence draws u in as it show different characters faces on the screen with a shot of the film, to give an insight to the audience about what each character is about. The reason they do this is because it instantly gets you to stereotype the characters in the way that the film portrays them, so throughout the film from the start you will not be fond of the bad guy which is the criminal just because of the way they showed him in the opening sequence.
What shot types are used? How do they create meaning in the sequence?
A lot of different shot types are used such as long shot, close up, medium shot and over the shoulder shot. The long shot is used to make the picture seem further away and it gives the audience a chance to see the detail of the setting. The camera is uses close up to create meaning within the opening scene as they give close ups to show the detail of each of the characters faces.
What style of lighting is used?
Within the opening sequence the lighting is used to create the atmosphere of a good or bad character. The effect that they have created to give to the audience Is a positive and negative effect. The reason why they done this was to show who could be the good characters and who could be the bad ones, so the opening sequence gives a hint of what is to come or what happened before.
What is the film genre?
The film Spiderman has many genres. The genre of the film is action, the reason for this is because there is a lot of fighting during each scene and action is the main key throughout. Also another genre is drama as in each scene drama happens to kick off action within the film. Lastly romance is a genre to this film as there is constant sexual tension between the two characters of Peter Parker and Mary Jane. This targets the audience by each genre because within each genre there is a different type of audience.
Who is the target audience? How do you know this?
The target audience for this film and opening sequence will be an action audience. I’m assuming this because the film genre is action and Hollywood only realises a film if it has a wide variety of audience that will come and watch the film and buy expenditure.
What does the narrative tell you about what is going to happen?
This piece of text is linear because it shows what chronologically happened within the first film is time structure. We are introduced into the world of this film within the opening sequence by them showing us the scenes which then get us engrossed to the plot by them showing each character with an image involved that sums up their own character individually. Narrative techniques are used to give u a hint of what is going to happen. Within the Spiderman opening they are using the foreshadowing technique. This technique is used to give a hint to the audience of what is going to happen. This opening sequence keep the audience interested so they watch the rest of the film because they foreshadow the plot of what is going to happen.
What dialogue is being used?
The dialogue being used in the opening sequence is very melodramatic as it gives the impression of a villain, hero and a damsel in distress. Although there is no speech within the opening sequence the words and the way each character has different font represents there personality.
Identify the sound effects and how it creates meaning?
The music choice used by the director is also melodramatic as it has the sounds of a hero saving someone and is a type of typical hero and villain song choice. Also in the song at the start it starts off very light and cheerful however when it reaches the middle of the song the beats begin to get harder which is showing how the film is going to be with the song becoming light and cheerful again at the end.
Title Sequence
The title sequence of spider 2 is very good the way they use different colours for different meanings. They use red for the middle of the words to show that there is passion, blood and evil within the film. These are connotations of the colour red and this is why they have used this colour. However on the outline of the words they have white outlining which give off the connotations of pure and innocence which is trying to show that there will be some sort of hero in the film, such as the red shows that there will be some type of villain in the film. This effect also creates the meaning that within every good there is a bit of bad and vice versa. The font that they have used in the title sequence is very sharp, they did this because it gives off a sharp look to try to get across that there will be weapons used in the film. They use pictures of different characters in the title sequence to give information to the audience about who is who and how things are going to go in the film.

How does the opening sequence draw you in?
The opening scene draws you in by showing them earlier on in life already fighting against another country and attempting to fly a plane. This film uses the stereotypes of soldiers whilst being kids. They have done this buy uses the key effect of them fighting whilst they were young foreshadowing what will happen next in the film.
What shot types are used? How do they create meaning in the sequence?
They use a varied amount of shot types within this opening scene. They use a bird’s eye view known as an aerial view to show when the plane is in the air. This effect that they have created brings the audience into the film as they want the audience to feel that they are above the plane and watching down. The effect that the audience feels is that they are there in the film and on the journeys with the characters.
What is the film genre?
The genre of the film Pearl Harbour is Romance and action. Romance is a genre of the film pearl harbour because the two brothers love each other and go through a lot with each other. Also there is romance between the girl and one of the children when they grow up. Another genre is action as the movie is about war. The genre action links with romance.

The film targets two different audiences which are women and men as romance appeals to women whilst action appeals to men. The conventions that the producer uses to target the audience are the genres, he uses genres as this will attract the audience they want.

This opening sequence is a linear narrative as it starts at the beginning and describes how the story began. We are introduced into the world of film by being shown the opening sequence which helps us have emotions for the two children characters. The characters have created a real personality for themselves which get the audience attached. Narrative techniques are used to give u a hint of what is going to happen. Within the film Pearl harbour the first part of the film foreshadows the relationship between the two boys and the experience that they have with the plane foreshadows what would happen into the film. The opening sequence keeps the audience interested as the opening shows that the two boys would have a relationship within the film. The opening gives the audience a reason to watch on.
What dialogue is being used?
The dialogue that is being used is an informal conversation as the people that are talking are two young children as they embark on their adventure when they get into the plane. When the elder comes into the scene the conversation becomes much more formal as words are being pronounced better plus the structure of the sentences also improve.
Identify the sound effects and how it creates meaning?
The sound effects used in the opening sequence are blowing up and crashing noises to signify the whole genre of the film which is war. This creates the meaning for the whole film already. However the film is about friendship and togetherness as the two know each other from day go to war together when they are older.
Title Sequence
The title sequence of Pearl Harbor creates a lot of meaning as the font colour of the text is all white. They did this as it creates meaning of pure innocence and clean. In the opening scene they are little boys which emphasises the title sequence of pure innocence and clean, however it contradicts as the story is all about war and the connotations of white and what war is are completely different. Although the relationship between the two brothers is very passionate and loving as they have grown up together from young protecting each other. The title sequence as it has sharp edges which represents the war that goes on between the two countries and the battle from the start the two brothers go through in the film.

How does the opening sequence draw you in?
The opening sequence draws you in as they give you a preview of the whole film. They show 3 of the main characters who are working colleagues and friends. Nicholas is represented as the hero that attempts to save everyone from death. Emma is represented as a blonde damsel in distress who needs saving. Arlen Is represented as the friend at the start but as the film goes on he turns evil and tries to save himself rather than let someone else live.

The camera is used to create meaning within the opening scene as they give close ups to show the detail of each of the characters faces. It also makes u feel like you are there in the havoc and it shocks you as each death pass by.
What style of lighting is used?
Within the opening sequence the lighting is used to create the atmosphere of death and horror. He used the lighting to show how each person died and how major that will be in the film. The effect that they have created to give to the audience is negative. The setting is used to show the busyness of the New York City and how packed it is. This gets them feeling emotional as they see each person dying in this scene due to the disaster. The colours that they used in the opening sequence represent death and blood. Also they have used colours that show that the place is set in a casual area and that anything can happen in a casual place.

Final Destination has many genres such as adventure,. There is adventure throughout the film as they are trying to find a way to keep them from dying and destroy the chain and the adventure genre is a main key throughout. Also another genre is horror as in each scene horror happens as each character dies with a horrible death, this is what attracts the audience. Lastly romance is a genre to this film as there is romance between two of the main 3 characters. The romance is consistent through the film and is part of the plot for a reason why the three friends turn on each other.

The target audience is for people who want to be thrilled and on the edge of everything as the film is a very jumpy and keeps you excited about what is going to happen next. I know this because in the film there are a lot of moments that keep you on the edge of your seat as I have seen the film.

Before they get on the coach the film is introducing to the audience a romance which is important within the film. Narrative techniques are used to give u a hint of what is going to happen. Within the Final Destination opening they are using the foreshadowing technique. This technique is used to give a hint to the audience of what is going to happen.
What dialogue is being used?
The dialogue used in the opening sequence is very informal. The reason this is done is because they are young adults that are having a genuine conversation whilst in a coach on a journey to a place.
Identify the sound effects and how it creates meaning?
The sound effects used in the opening sequence is a high pitched and loud as it helps to keep you on the edge of your seat so you stay in focus and still concentrating on the film. Also as the incident is occurring in the first scene the sound effects are very horrid as it is suiting the situation, the sound effects are loud crashing sounds which help the effect of death with a sound.
Title sequence
The title sequence that they have created for this film is very imaginative. They have used a skull with a number 5 going through the eyes. They used the skull because it connotes death, this is very clever as it foreshadows to the audience already that there will be death in the film. Also there is a big 5 going through the eyes of the skull. The 5 is a knife in the shape of a five, they used a weapon that is used to kill in the title sequence as it again portrays the information to the audience that the film is going to be gruesome and a lot of blood and death. However the title sequence looks very bright which contrasts the whole film.
